The unrivaled master of Ghazal singing breathed his last on Wednesday after protracted illness. He was 84.  How consummate an artist  Hasan was in rendition of classical singing can be understood by the fact that sixteen generations of Hasan had mastered the art of music.

He along with Melody Queen Noor Jehan, Muhammad Rafi and Lata Mangeshkar epitomized the climax of Indian playback music that had flowered to its peak in the last century.

Editor’s Note : I will continue to update tribute to the legendary Mehdi Hasan.
