WASHINGTON, March 23 (APP): The Pakistani embassy led the Pakistan Day celebrations here in Washington Friday with a flag-hoisting ceremony, paying tribute to forefathers for their epic freedom struggle and resolving to work for the country’s advancement as a strong nation.
Deputy Chief of the Mission Asad Majeed Khan hoisted the flag while the national anthem was played. He read out messages of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani, in which the two leaders encouraged the nation to strive for development of the country and welfare of the people.
The ceremony strated with recitiation of verses from the Holy Qur’an and concluded with prayers for progress, prosperity and solidarity of the country.
Members of the the Pakistani-American community, diplomats and staff of the embassy and children clad in traidtional Pakistani dresses attended the ceremony in the embassy compound.
